Final Evaluation of the West African Mangrove Initiative (WAMI), a project funded by the MAVA Foundation, and implemented by Wetlands International and IUCN.
The Project covered six countries of the sub region (Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Bissau, Guinea and Sierra Leone). The Project facilitated the agreement and signatures of a Charter by the six countries, aiming at a trans-boundary sub-regional
conservation strategy for the mangrove ecosystem. The Project also engaged in the development of community based
income
alternatives.
